We liked the original look of the 1961 Shasta; however, there was a lot of visible water damage and it was really dark with all that original birch. This was the result of a tree limb falling on the top and puncturing a hole in the roof. Once I started pulling that out I got a little OCD about it which turned out to be a good thing.
The left cabinet had mold inside of them as well and it turned out to be a small puncture through the roof from the original screws that were holding up the cabinet. How long had that been trickling water down into the cabinet one can only guess. I envisioned camping in a very light airy environment with a kind of vintage farmhouse boho vibe, so that started a chain reaction of just yanking and I do mean yanking out everything. I just got in there and started pulling out damaged ceilings and tossing it and the dust-like 60year old insulation out panel by panel. Donnie was burning it as fast as I could toss it out. Donnie and both agreed that the birch was just too dark for us. Inside the cabinet had quite a bit of mold inside. I don't think I have pics of that. So before you can see how far we've come you have to see where we started from Last January, 2022
